Hey Bud;

It is Sunday evening and I am sitting in the laundry room writing you a letter.  I usually post your letter on your blog every week but your last one got deleted.  The first round of the NBA playoffs are over.  The warriors lost to the clippers in a very tight series so your uncle Jason will be bummed.  Emily got her call to Kentucky Spanish speaking.  She is stoked.  Spencer Frost got married this weekend to Emily Glausser.  I don't know her but both their dads are orthodontists.  They are pretty young to be getting married.  I wish them well.  I taught a lesson in priest quorum today about strengthening your testimony.  I keyed on a talk given by Elder Jeffrey Holland in May of 2013 General Conference.  He references Mark 9 when Jesus heals a boy with severe health problems.  It is truly a great talk.  The underscoring truth is that all things are possible to those who believe.

You are in a tough ward right now that has many problems.  The wickedness of the church or its members can be a great stumbling block to those who are investigating.  It is truly frustrating as a full time missionary.  It is difficult for you and your companion because you feel that so many things are out of your control.  I sense your frustration and your lack of patience with them.  But, all things are possible with the Lord.  The best you can do is pray for them.  Pray for success and ask the Lord to help you guys help the members.  Be kind and loving towards them and do anything you can to help them.  Your judgment and impatience will only turn them away and make matters worse.  I am not condemning you but just encouraging you to be patient and loving.  I remember having those same feelings in some of my areas.  Remember the attributes you quote in section 4 of the D & C....patience....long-suffering....etc..

Please let us know your plans to talk on the phone for mothers day.  we are really looking forward to it.  I will sit down and make a list of questions to ask you.  Max McBride got into BYU with a scholarship and Sam McBride was just voted prom king.  Andrew is very excited.  It is super competitive to get into BYU this year and next year is supposed to be worse.  They project they will turn away over half of the students that apply.  Crazy!  Kyle went to Junior Prom this year with a group of kids.  They all rented a limo and went to Bennehanna's for dinner.  Kyle was looking quite dapper.  They all went to the McBrides after prom for a swim/waffle party.  I heard it was really fun.  By the way I shot a 79 on Friday (41 & 38) and smoked McBride by 4 shots.  Both of us have been playing well lately.  Jake and I went to the temple on Saturday morning.  Jake is such a good kid.  He even fasted on his own today.  I tried to give him a piece of cinnamon toast.....and he said.....DAD....it's fast Sunday.  I was like....ooops....sorry.  I'm such a heathen.  take care bud and I look forward to your letter.  Remember mom's bday is May 18.  Ciao.

Love, DAD..................

hola mom and dad!

how is everything going?? its a bummer to hear that the blog got erased but that is okay.  there will be plenty more of them! haha... wow give me more details about the playoffs! who is looking the best on the east and west coast? i bet uncle Jason is a sad about the lose of the team but they are alot better then our team. WOW Emily got her mission call?? that is awesome!!!!! another Spanish speaker! is she stoked? and wow Spencer and Emily got married? i knew that they were in love but i didn't know that they had the plans to get married! well i wish the best to that girl and hope that Spencer really has changed. did they got to the temple? i would love to hear what you had to say about your talk and how to strengthen your testimony! Holland is awesome but Uckdorf for my takes the bate still.  what is the name of the talk so i can download it!

dad the role as missionaries is to teach people, not to find.... it is such a same because the ward is the one that has to find the investigators but unfortunately they think that it is the other way around.  we have explained and explained to them and the entire i have been here i have not received one reference.  all my baptism have been by the efforts of me and my companions.  it really is a big stumbling block because the members are not helping us with the work but there is nothing we can do about it... because we are just here to help the ward grow and be better and there are some that don't want to help.  but you are right dad, i need to be more patience and love them for who they are and do everything possible for them.  i am very frustrated because i have the couple that wants to get married and the devil is throwing everything obstacle possible at them, money, sickness, job, criticism.  its truly terrible because its such a great little family of 3.  but we have the faith that everything will be okay and today they are going to write their names down to get married on the 16! our family that we baptized is doing great!! it is crazy to listen to him and his testimony of the gospel.  yesterday we have a family home evening with him and he invited his brother in law and his wife which are not married like everybody here, and when he testified of this church it was a feeling that a missionary cant describe because of all the hard work you have done to get them there.  i know all things are possible with the lord but times like this is really a stretch and measures where your faith is.  some days my faith is high and other days its low.  it is really hard to always exercise faith but it needs to be done to change alot of things here.  this is where my faith will grow. i guess that is why i am in this ward.

wow that is awesome that SAM got in!! and that SAM got voted prom king... i did not see that one coming! hahaha.... lets hope and pray that Kyle gets in! would be a great thing for him... apply for summer term... wow half the students.... they need to make another one. oh boy Kyle went to prom huh! how was it for him? i am sure he wrote me a little not about what happened! wow a 79 huh! sounds like you are kicking some trash! i hope you still can when i get home ;) how come Kyle didn't go with you guys to the temple! i am so so proud of Jake. he is going to be a great kid when he grows up! wish i could have gone with you guys! one of the things i look forward to doing when i get home! and it doesn't surprise me that he fasted on his own.  such a stud!
