To A-Mac,

How's it going Alex.   I am sitting in the San Diego airport waiting to fly home to work a few days.  I always hate leaving but gotta pay to play.   Sounds like you guys are going great work.  Try not to get caught up in numbers whether things are good or bad.  People are what's important.  Success is nice and I'm glad your enjoying some.   Make sure you get your comp to teach you some sweet moves.  That always comes in handy.  I surfed thurs, fri, an sat.  Jake surfed two days with me.  He did greAt.  I took bugs surfing on fri and he loved it.  He is asking to go on Monday.  Kyle did not come.   He did not wanna go.  " I get tired of going places all the time".  So, I left him at the Woodburns.   Whatever, I don't understand that kid sometimes.  Do you guys do anything special for July 4th?   Scott & Scotti are in Cbad as well as Alan & Linda.   Jean an Eric are also coming in.  Mike and Cassie just arrived as well.   So a full house.  Scott & Scotti just bought a really cool beach house in the very southern tip of Oceanside.  Gotta get on my plane.  Love you bud.   I miss you surfing w me.   I usually surf alone.   Had some fun waves.   Shoulders are in good shape.  Don't forget to have fun!    Love you!!!

hola madre y padre y hermanos!

como estamos! once again i get the fabulous news to hear that you guys are in California! which makes me cringe inside but deep down i am doing okay about it! hahaha... anything cool or out of the ordinary happen when you guys where there? how was the tacos at cessys... they are truly missed by my stomach! hahaha... anyways this week was a little bit of a downer... we didn't find many people to teach but we still have what we have which is great... my companion and i are really stoked at all the investigators and people that we have that are progressing and july should be a great month for us! but you are right... the numbers are not important... what is more important is the people but for others its a little bit different because they are not there working with you so if you have bad numbers they judge but to me that is not very important because me and my companion we know what is going on... but yes we should have some success this up coming week.  and don't worry he is teaching me some moves already... i'm getting into the harder stuff so it will be a little bit tricky.  how was the surf?? the pictures looked like the waves were great! describe to me your best wave! hahahaha... i miss bragging about how caught the wave of the day! hahaha... and wow Jake got up and went surfing! awesome he is such a stud i love that kid.  and josh went out?? how did he do? was he scared or did he love it.... i bet you guys that he could go pro in surfing if we pushed him in it! you know that i will when i get home! hahahah... ill take him out everyday! and are you serious¿ Kyle stayed with the woodburns... what is his deal? or in spanish... que tiene!!!!! hahaha... that boy is just really confused lost in the things of the world and not focused on the things that really matter in life... it took me some time to figure it out but i came around... just gotta pray and help him find himself and get him out of this mind set of things that are not important in life.  and to tell you the truth dad i don't know what will happen for the fourth of July... i dont think that it is anything down here and our mission president probably wont do anything for that day... but maybe as a district we might do a little something... the Independence here in Peru is the 28 of July so it will be crazy down here for sure.  and wow it is a full house down there... give everyone a hug for me and let them know how much i miss them. and no way? tia scotti bought a house down there... awesome! less expensive in oceanside? i like carlsbad better for sure... for p-day we were walking and we came upon a sweeeeeeeeeet llama where we all took pictures by it as a district... this llama was awesome and super friendly! we all thought that he was going to spit on us but he was muy tranquilo... make sure to show it to andy mcb! the first llama encounter. hahahaha.... we have this one man named eddy how is a great man... looking for the truth but a very hard heart... yesterday we had an awesome lesson... very strong was the spirit there in the room with us when we talked about baptism and how he can have an eternal family... his progression has been great but the hard heart is killer.... with time the lord will open his heart ... he accepted a date to be baptized the end of the month if he receives an answer... the rest of his family is ready... we have another family that is getting married really soon! we are teachign a single mother and her daughter and it is quite funny becaue all the young men want to go and visit this young lady because she is quite good looking and they all want to try to take her out... you guys should of seen when they were all fighting to go out with us and visit them... hahahahaha... we have a couple more people that we are working with but they are the the strong ones that we have.  are you guys watching the world cup?? the united states is kicking some butt... they play tomorrow!  hopefully they go all the way! if you could send me a jones jersey that is red, white and blue would be awesome.  our district is awesome and powerful! we have the chance to break a record for baptisms in one month which is 27! we are all really stoked.... i wont lie to you guys... i have really liked playing soccer here and every day i want to go out and play.... the other day we played for 3 straight hours! it was great! i have lost alot of my muscle... going to be hard to gain it all back when there is no gym.... it will be much needed when i get home! how is everything back at home? anything new, exciting, that you would like to tell me! anyways i have really come to love this gospel and church and i have come to know that it is true for myself and i am so happy that i did... it has changed my life for the better and i am so happy that i have the chance to change the life of others and at the same time, myself.  my knowledge of the doctrine is bigger than i ever thought and i have learned things from missionaries and the president that i never expected but only reinforce my testimony of the gospel... it really is true.  anyways... i am going to write the president! i love you guys like crazy! have a great week!

Yo Elder Macdonald;

I just wanted to say hello.  It is Sunday night and I am exhausted.  I got home from Hawaii and worked 12 hour days monday, tuesday, and wednesday.  Kyle and I got up early Thursday morning, loaded up the razor, and drove to Snowflake to the Municipal golf course.  We met the rest of the priests for their super activity.  We played 27 holes of golf in snowflake which is kind of cool as the course basically wraps around the Snowflake temple that sits at the top of the hill.  very pretty.  From there we drove to the white mountains and camped out by Big Lake.  We went fishing, rode razors, and did alot of skeet shooting.  We had a great time although it was very dusty.  We were all filthy especially from riding the razor's around.  We did alot of skeet shooting w/ shotguns and Kyle was very good at it.  He had a shoot off with Sam Mcbride who barely edged him out.  I did bad the first day but came back and shot 8 of 10 the second day to take 2nd place
 behind Brigham Dayton.  Seth Robinson was just called to your mission....he is from our ward and was in my priest quorum.  Joseph Leung was just called to Portugal and Taylor Christiensen was just called to Salt Lake City West mission.  He was shocked but is stoked.

Scotty left for his mission and flew from San Jose to Mexico City by way of Phoenix.  He had a lay over here so Kyle went down to the airport to hang out with him.  I will let him tell you about that....he was very stoked to see him.  Cassie gets married in two weeks and so we will be going up for that.  It is not this Thursday...but next Thursday.  Things are going well at work and we are getting busy for the summer....which is good.  I taught a lesson today for the priests about Testimony, the restoration of the gospel, and the importance of the priesthood in our church.  It went really well and I had the boys full attention.  I know the spirit was very strong and undeniable to the boys.  I told them that I knew some of them struggled with their testimony.  I told them that was OK......But I hoped at some point soon they would make the choice to find the DESIRE to gain a testimony...and at that point if they worked The Lord would confirm to them the
 truthfulness of the gospel.  Once they received that they are ready to receive their mission call.  Then they are ready to teach and testify of the divinity of the Lord Jesus Christ and the fulfillment of the promise to restore the Kingdom of God back to the earth for the final time.  I keyed on the D & C.section 1.  I finished the lesson reading verses 17 - 23.  It is truly a great scripture.  Read it...it is so important.  It is the answer to the question....Why did Heavenly Father and Jesus appear to Joseph Smith.

I had an interesting experience today that I wanted to share with you.  I had gone for an early morning jog and was listening to Joseph Smith History.  I thoroughly enjoyed it. I gained several important insights into Joseph Smith.  I returned from my run and started to work on my lesson for the Priests.  The Spirit was strong and helping me to put together a lesson that I thought they really needed.  In the middle of my lesson I got a VERY STRONG IMPRESSION to stop what I was doing and google David W. Patten.  He was a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles back in the time of Joseph Smith.  He is also the ancestor of my good friend David Patten who just got out of Jail in Washington state for getting his third DUI.  Dave called me yesterday and we had a nice conversation....I told him I hoped he could stay off of alcohol and drugs and get his life back together.  I have not shared the gospel with Dave because I have never been prompted to do
 so...and the timing never seemed right.  This was a clear cut impression to do so.....I believe by his ancestor David W. Patten.  I forwarded the email I sent to Dave and the attachment about his ancestor.  I share this with you because I wanted you to know that I seek for missionary opportunities and to share the gospel with people I love.  I do not know how he will respond but I know that I followed through with an impression and did what I was supposed to do.  It felt really good.  I felt like his ancestor needed my help and was pleased with what I did.  I hope my friend Dave is open to changing his life.  He is truly at the bottom and it would be nice to see him start to grasp the word of God and pull himself into the light.  It is truly interesting how ancestors can play a role in the salvation of their descendants.  And also how descendants can play a role in the salvation of their ancestors.  It is the spirit of Elijah at work.

Are you in a new area?  do you have a new companion?  I have not heard from your mission president yet.  I hope he writes me.  Curtis Clifford is in Peru and I gave him a package to drop off at the mission office.  I hope he gets it there.  I love you buddy.  Keep the faith.  Keep working hard.  I know you are.  Your uncles and cousins, brothers, and all of us are so stoked with what you are doing.  The church is true....so what else matters?  Grandpa Wade likes to say that.  My office party is this Thursday.  it is always fun.  love to you buddy. I love  your mother with all my heart.  She gets more beautiful every day!

Aloha..........DAD

yo padre como esta! te extraño! wow sounds like you guys had an awesome time up in snowflake and bear.... sounds like so much fun being up in the mountains and everything... i truly miss seeing things that are green and filled with color besides seeing brown all the time.. at least in arizona there is some green to it.  hahaha.  and wow seth robinson is coming to this mission huh? i dont remember him but he is coming to this mission? it will be awesome for him.  and wow scotty is now out in the mission field... now we have 2 missionaries of the family! soon to be 3 quickly. super stoked for him... wow cassie is getting married this month... she still hasnt shown me a picture of this stranger. haha... take advantage of all you can dad with the activities of the priest because kyle is there and you can really help him grow and you can see his progress.  i would of loved to have you in the priest quorum when i was there but the lord knew that he needed you more when kyle was a priest.  do all you can to be around him. you will have plenty more moments like you had last week with the priest and these moments will really strengthen kyle and his trust in you dad.  i konw that he thinks of you as a different person and your experiences.  tell your priests this from me and its that if they do not have a strong testimony of the gospel it is alright... go on a mission and you will find your testimony, i garuentee it.  this is what happened with me and now there is no doubt in my mind that the church is true.  it is a true prvilidge for me to be able to open my mouth and say the words the this church is true and that joseph smith was a prophet of god.  nothing brings me more happiness that to be able to say that to a people that are so far from the truth.

wow i am really impressed on your spiritual experience dad... i love hearing about this things now... i thoroughly search everyday to have a spiritual experience or something that increases my testimony of the church.  its awesome to see at times how the spirit works through people.  it is always easier to see the spirit working through others than in myself... it is something that i am really working on... being great companion with the spirit and the role it has in my own conversion.  i would love to hear more about this friend of yours and how he is taking the advice that you gave him... one thing i know is that the testimony can really change someone.  i am always looking for ways to bear my testimony to the people here and hope that my testimony will change their lives... i am extremely proud dad that you acted on the prompting you recievend and i know that his ancestors are extremely proud that you did.  i believe that you could be the person that changes this mans life dad... i have been praying that you guys would have a missionary moment and know is your chance dad.  and its awesome know knowing how the sprit of elijah works still.

YES i am in a new area with a new elder... his name is elder Gonzalez of Paraguay... he is the district leader of the zone ventanilla... dad this town is built basically where the sand dunes are in az... imagine the sand dunes with a TON of people living there some how...hahahaha it is crazy and i don't know how that they live in such a way.  elder Gonzalez has been a very successful missionary and i believe the president and the lord put me with him for a reason... first, how to be a better leader because soon i will have to be one. two, how to use the spirit more, three, to be a better teacher.  4, to be a more successful missionary.  i am extremely stoked with my new companion... we baptized a 41 year old man on Saturday and we have a few families that we are teaching which i am stoked about... hopefully everything goes well.  i asked the presidents wife in transfers if he got it... the things is is that he is a really busy man... dad it is crazy how well prepared this man is and how deep of knowledge he has of the scriptures... did you ever hear about the announcement in june 23 of 2013... well this is when monson said that the role of the missionaries and the members change and we all know work as a team... i have learned that the gospel and the lord work in the way of patrons and i can see why i am here in THIS MISSION. i am here because the lord wants me to learn and be a huge part of the plan of salvation because this mission is the mission that is really doing a great job applying it and i will have to apply what i learn here in the mission afterwards when i return... there is so many other things but i now know that we are each called to certain mission for some reason.  i am really enjoying the work and everything that i am doing here... i am pleased to hear that everything is going well... i am going to miss the pool party like always... i love you guys like crazy! more info next week!

ps... i can see the ocean ;)

love your son

Hey elder mac;

I got home late last night from Salt Lake City. So, I just have a few minutes to write you.  Cassie's wedding was really good and she seems very happy.  The blessings from being sealed in the temple are so unbelievable. It is always good to review them.  I am happy for her and Mike.   We had a great time in Utah hiking and doing all kinds of things.  We got to see the Iversen's as they are taking their daughter Mirelle up to school for summer semester.    We met them up at Sundance Road the lift up and hike to Stewart Falls. It was absolutely beautiful.   The mountains where is green and pretty and streams and creeks and rivers were running full. It was very very nice.   Tell me what's going on with you. How is the work going?  How is the new area? How is your new companion?

Kyle was supposed to fly back w us last night but Carly Okland invited him to hang out today and fly back on their private jet.   So, he is living the life.   I thought of you often when I was in the mountains.   I know how u luv them.   Work hard!   Have fun!!!  We love u.   I gave Cassie an extra squeeze from you.   She looked beautiful.

Love.   Dad

yoooooo mi padresss!!! como estan??

glad to hear that the wedding of my cousin turned out great! i still cant believed that she is married now... just doesn't seem right to me... hahaha... but i am extremely happy for her... tell her to write me that punk! hahahah... i am not going to lie... is Cade like a giant or something? kyle looks like a bachlorette kind of guy now haha.. and Erin and summer look completely different! it seems like everything is changing ever so slightly! haha... it looks absolutely beautiful up there in Utah right now... i could really go for some nice huge green trees or see a water that is not black from all the sewage and garbage, but that is why i love Peru so much... it is so so different from the rest of the world...did josh do the apline slide by himself? haha... everyone seems to be growing up so fast its crazy...

the work is going great over here in Ventanilla... the people here are awesome... we should have a baptism of a family of 4 on July 5... the next week 2 more.. the next week 2 more... and the next week hopefully another family if everything goes well and if the lord will help us with it.  we are extremely stoked right now because my companion and i have the chance to break the record for most baptisms in one month which is 9... last week our mission president had a meeting with elder oaks of the twelve and a few other mission presidents and oaks said that our mission is one of the best in the world in how we are doing the work of salvation.  it is so satisfying to hear an apostle say that they are really looking at our mission and are extremely happy on how were are doing the work... we also have one of the highest retention numbers in the world too after we baptize people.  i am truly happy to be called to a mission that is progressing so rapidly...i know that what i do here, i will have to do it back at home so that everyone will know how to do the work and how it needs to get done.  the area like i said is nothing but sand and garbage everywhere... HOWEVER i am able to see the beach and the waves breaking... makes me sad everyday to wake up at 630 and do my exercise and look at the water when i wish i could be doing my exercise out in the water... one day... we live in a little house... next week i will take pictures to send you guys! its awesome! and i believe that it is the only room in the mission that has couches! its awesome! however we have to cook for ourselves! laziness is killer when i come home from a long days of work and have to cook... i now know how you feel mom... not to much fun but i thank you so much for doing it... my companion is awesome... he is 23... from Paraguay... he was a professional break dancer how won the title in all of south america! he loves to break dance at night and he is showing me some moves but its really hard.. i might just stick to the hobbies that i can already do! my companion is awesome and i know that we are going to be doing some damage here... the ward is awesome! the bishop is great! we have the 8 o'clock time which is great. there also was a little earthquake here... it was so cool to feel the earth shake for like 15 seconds ... but i knew i was safe because we were inside the chapel! hahahahaha.... i am doing great, loving what i am doing and the time that i have... almost have a year... i can not believe it either... don't have much time to try to change alot more peoples lives... if you have more exact questions ask! hope you like the pics! love you guys!!!!!!!
