Hey Alex;

how's it going brodda?  I want to hear more about you getting robbed.  Did the guy have a knife or a gun?  did you try to convert him?
Did your companion get transferred?  Did you get a new companion?  Is he native? You can see I have a lot of questions.  That is because you don't always give as much information as I would like.  We Just got back today from SLC.  It was very nice up there.  WE took Kyle to go hang out with Scotti in the dorms.  He seemed to have a good time and was able to see some other cousins up there as well.  Apparently the applicant pool to BYU this year was crazy and many excellent students got turned away.  Kyle was very tired when he met us at the airport so I don't think he got much sleep.  Scotti seemed like he was doing well but we didn't get to talk with him much.  I think kyle went with him to some of his classes.

Mom and I had a good time in park city.  We stayed at the ST. Regis hotel in Deer Valley which is a ski in ski out facility.  because I snowboard I had to go to Park city and ski.  It was fun.. A blue bird day about 40 degrees and no wind.  Mom and I had fun skiing together and we took alot of runs.  There was just enough top snow to carve some fun turns.  Don't worry though, the snow was much better last year than this year.  hasn't been such a good year for snow.  we stayed in downtown salt lake on saturday night and then flew home this morning.  It was an absolutely beautiful day in phoenix today.  Clear, sunny, and perfect temperatures.  WE played around our pool today and read under the palapa.

I went and visited Brad this week on Monday.  He is very weak but was surprisingly conversational.  We got to talk and I enjoyed some conversation with him.  I went back over on Thursday afternoon and he was basically unconscious.  I am not sure he will make up again.  It is so tough to watch someone die of cancer.  It really sucks.  His wife told us that you sent her an email.  She was very happy to get it and said you wrote some very nice things.  Bless you for taking the time to do that.  It is nice things like that ...that make a difference in this world.  It is Gilbert's spring break this week and Mesa's next week.  I am going to work a couple of days and then go to Carlsbad.  Looking forward to some beach time.

I hope you enjoy the pictures i sent.  How is Michele Hartman doing?  Does she still email you every week?  I hope you are keeping that light....anyway..Have a great week and let me know what is going on.  Love you you son!!!

DAD
hey daddy!!! como estaaa!!!

hahah i knew you would have questions about the robbing incident but i thought i would tell you! we were walking back to our room after a rough day and i was messing around with my companion and he gave me a light push and then all of the sudden some guy went for my companion and asked him for money... we could smell alcohol in his breath.  he didnt demand very much and we cant fight or anything so we lightly handed the money that he asked and he took off... we knew that it would be bad to mess with a drunk man or anyone in general on this aspect so we just did what the rules say, surrender and give them what they ask.  he didnt have gun or knife... he just thought that as missionaries that we have alot of money but we dont hahaha.... we didnt try to convert him even thought i would have liked to to change this guys life hahahahahaha... tomorrow is changes so i should be getting a new companion tomorrow i believe or he could stay another transfer i dont know but i am ready for a change and i think he is too because we really didnt get along to well and i believe that is why we didnt have the success that we wanted...at all but its okay and its all part of the learning process.  but i am grateful for the things i learned from him... for example that to love someone and the work you are doing is really alot deeper than what i ever expected and that at times i dont do a very good job at showing it i guess. we are teaching a family that is menos activo where the dad had a problem with the church because he thought that the church would give him a steady job for his family and everything and he ended up getting screwed with a job and has been pissed off with the church for 10 years but now we are teaching him and just from 3 visits, he told us that his doors are open to us and his family anytime.  it was really cool to see the little miracles and the spirit that is helping them change and join the church that they once were apart of.  we are still working on family that we are trying to marry but there are alot of problems that are coming up but we are fighting to get them married and get baptized! great little famliy of soon to be 4! i am surprised that there are more applicants for BYU when the had changed the age! you would think that it would be the other way around.  i really hope that the lord blesses kyle with the opportunity to go to BYU!  I'm sure he had a great time with scotti if he didnt sleep! hahaha... but i loved the pictures of you guys skiing! great looking couple i swear! hahaha... and dad i know its hard on you and all the things that your friend is going through but you know perfectly that the lord has a new plan for him prepared in the heavens... i hope that he will have the chance to accept this plan when it is his time to go... i would teach him the plan as best as you can dad and his family... you should talk to melissa and ask her that we have a message that really blesses the families and that her family can be together for the eternity and that she can see her husband again. and if she says yes, send the missionaries... times like these are perfect and what missionaries dream to have because it leads right into our hands even though some of the results are not the best.  maybe god is giving you the chance do to this dad.  and michelle is doing great! yeah she write me every week but i keep calm and she knows not to expect a whole lot from me. but she is doing great  and i am sure she would love to hear from you guys because she can explain alot better about how she is doing.  we had interviews this week with president that were really awesome and he always has the right words to say to us.  this week i gave my first talk in sacrament meeting! it was on the subject of why we need to understand the gospel.  i was extremely nervous and the pulpit was really small... i had to bend over to talk... i had 10 mins and i thought i wouldn't be able to do it but i got to half my message and the bishop kicked me which told me that i needed to finish my talk and i had alot more things to say still... but needless to say, alot of people really were amazed by my message and my spanish.  i really felt sky high even though we didnt have many investigators come at all.  health wise i am doing okay! spirtual wise i feel like i am okay but still battling satan everyday. but feeling more and more confident as the days continue on.  i need to write a list of things that i need to say in the emails so i will change that so my emails are alot better... i am sorry... ;( but i love you guys alot! shred some waves for me dad!

love elder macdonald
