hola pops! que tal?
I am sure that it has been really weird for him. i still remember that
morning i said goodbye to him. crazy how fast the time has gone by though. but
this week is the superbowl no? i hope to hear a little bit of detials about
it... hope the seahawks destroy the pats... and you are not alone on getting
those beautiful photos of the ocean and those awesome head high waves rolling
it... it was like a dagger to the heart those vidoes of the ocean! hahahaha...
wow the super activity sounds awesome! sound be a great time! when are you guys
planning on going? and keep me informed about kyle and byu! i really hope he
gets in! it will be a great place for him to be. and really roxy is having
problems??? she isn't that old! i hope to see her when i get back alive! awesome
sends me some photos from the slopes! hope you guys get some good powder! good
father and son time!
but anyways this week was quite the good one! the family guillen
chilingano... the family where the father had a stroke and now is recovering
from it... came to church this week! they could only for sacrament meeting but
its a start! the wife had to work si or si because she has to pay for the
medical bills and wasn't able to stay longer on Sunday but she is going to talk
to her boss to change her time so she doesn't work on Sundays. we also had
hermano toledo go to church this week.. his wife wasn't able to go but he has a
awesome little family of 3... him and his wife and his 3 year old daughter...
they are really liking what we have taught them and their date for baptism is 21
of feb! hermana sonia will be getting baptized on the 14 of feb because she
wants her husband to be present. this week i meet a man who speaks really good
English and we taught him and he didn't want to speak Spanish he just wanted to
speak English with me and that day i was talking to my companion about how i
don't think i will be able to preach and teach the gospel as well as i can in
Spanish and heavenly father gave me the chance to prove myself otherwise! haha
it was quite awesome and the first time that i bore my testimony in English
on my mission and i could really feel the spirit and i know that this father did
too. also this week hermano toledo took us to church in his car and it has been
18 months since i had gone to church in a car.... what a privilege it is for us
to be able to go to church in a car and not have to depend on other
transportation... all we have to do is get in the car and we are at church...
but for many others here, its a whole different story. for many its walking and
taking buses. but riding in his car just made me remember and the times we had
gone to church as a family in the car and how the people of peru have become
part of my family and i understand even better the principle that we are all
brothers and sisters embarked in the same mission... to return to our heavenly
father and how we have to help those who dont know, somehow get inside the boat
that we are in before the flood comes. and this week we were walking with the
president of the quorum of elders and i asked him if he could come with us to
an appointment and when we left it was late for him to go back to work... he
works independently... and so i started to apologize for being late and he said
to me, don't worry elder macdonald, who is the next person that we could visit?
he then went on to tell me that he would rather go and share the gospel and his
testimony then go and earn 2000 dollars. its great to know that the lord does
really call people for the right reasons to be leaders of this church because he
knows their hearts and their desires and i am glad to know a man so converted to
the gospel and is so willing to help the work of salvation go forth.
a little funny moment that happened out of the many is that when we were
teaching hermano toledo again and we were bearing our testimony, and as you
could feel the spirit, Satan goes and puts on a famous american song to try to
distract me... gratefully my companion was bearing his testimony on not mine at
the moment but its funny what he does to try to get our attention and pull it
away from the people.
anyways papito lindo! i miss you like crazy! i hope all goes well! there is
alot of work to be done and little time! i got to finish just like the savior
did... do everything he could up to his death.
love you forever padre!
your son, elder macdonald

Hey Alex;
What's happening? I was just upstairs listening to your phone message that you left on my phone before you departed to Peru. Josh asked, "who is that?" and i said it was you. He listened to it a couple of times. It has to be weird for him as he was so young when you left. He had two games this weekend.....one in flag football and one in basketball. They lost both. Oh well. He is doing pretty well.
Mom went to CBAD this weekend by herself for some R & R. It was a beautiful weekend and the waves were pumping especially at the South Jetty. She kept sending me pictures of all of these glassy head high waves. I was like........stop already. Oh well.
Things at work are going well. We are a tad bit slower than last year but hopefully that won't last. We had a good 2014 which I am very thankful for. I am in the middle of planning the Priests superactivity for the summer. I am hoping we can go to St. George to do some mountain biking and hiking at Zions National Park. It sounds like you continue to do well and are moving the work forward. Kyle should hear sometime in the next 3-4 weeks about BYU. If he doesn't get in he will probably attend UVU. He qualifies for the tuition decrease so it is basically like in-state tuition.
Roxy is getting old and having a hard time standing up. I am really sad about that because I really love her and she is a great dog. It will be hard to see her go. Hopefully she will last longer. I am taking Kyle and Jake snowboarding next weekend to Snowbird and Snowbasin. Hopefully the snow will be good. Supposed to get some storms Tuesday night and Wednesday. Stoked to go. I have got to get ready to sleep as I need my beauty rest. Love your guts and hope you are happy and fulfilled in what your doing. Keep saying your prayers for our family and know that we pray for you every day. Peace brother. Can';t wait to catch some waves with you this summer.
Love DAD
